Southwest Kicks Off Hawaii Flights for $49

Southwest obtained FAA authority to fly to Hawaii last week and is already selling cheap fares.

Southwest announced Monday that it will resume Hawaiian flights on March 17. To sweeten the deal,

the airline is offering $49 one-way or $98 round-trip flights between California and Hawaii.

The $49 flights are selling fast, so anyone who books a $100 round-trip flight is lucky. Southwest's Hawaii service might please even those who

don't acquire the cheapest tickets. A $300 Hawaii flight is a wonderful price, so the $79 and $99 one-way fares are still great.

SFGate.com stated that Oakland to Honolulu would start daily flights on March 17 and Honolulu to Oakland will start once-daily flights a day later.

The airline will start daily Oakland-Kahului flights on April 7 and Kahului-Oakland flights on April 8. SFGate.com reported that Kahului-Oakland

flights will begin twice daily on April 10. From May 5, San Jose to Honolulu will fly daily in both directions. On May 26, San Jose to Kahului will have

daily flights in both directions. Flights between San Diego and Sacramento and Hawaii have not yet been posted, but bargain-hunters can keep an eye out for $49 prices.

Southwest will begin four-times-daily interisland service between Honolulu and Kahului on April 28. Starting May 12, Southwest will offer four daily interisland services
