Southwest is upgrading its planes with faster Wi-Fi

Southwest Airlines plans to invest over $2 billion in passenger amenities, including larger overhead bins, quicker internet, and power outlets at every seat,

The airline will also treble its movie selection and add bloody mary mix, ready-to-drink cocktails, strong seltzer, and rose wine to its drink menu.

After two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, airlines are preparing for a leisure and business travel comeback.

Last year, United Airlines introduced new seatback screens and entertainment systems. It also prepares cabins for larger overhead bins. Delta Airlines

installs new domestic first-class seats and plans to give free internet. Also, Hawaiian Airlines

Southwest's $2 billion investment will cover five years and is part of a $3.5 billion annual capital expenditure until 2026,

announced in December. Southwest has boosted its business traveler sales, but the improvements apply to all customers.

To accommodate flexible travelers, the airline introduced a second-cheapest rate in March. Last week, it told staff it

would temporarily offer free Wi-Fi on some flights while testing new technology to bring faster connections to more customers, CNBC reported.
